Our logo includes a Roman aqueduct and is a symbolic link to our company theme of Original Thinking, Disciplined Execution, and Enduring Insights. The creation of Roman aqueducts stands as one of the most ingenious examples of original thinking in the history of the Roman Empire. Whereas evidence of the use of various forms of aqueducts can be traced to early B.C. societies such as the Crete Minoans and the Babylonians, the Romans were able to apply their engineering expertise to the problem of obtaining sustained access to water and think about it in an original way. Their use of raised aqueducts was a structural solution that was one of the most important contributors to the great expansion of the entire Roman empire. Furthermore, the aqueducts were built on such sound principles of engineering, and executed with such discipline and excellence, that over 1,000 of these structures still stand today! Even more impressively, there are aqueducts still being used today for delivering water to populations, over 1,700 years after they were first built!
For us, the symbol of the aqueduct represents our aspiration to replicate such ingenuity in building upon sound principles of fundamental investing, applied in an original way, powered by discipline in execution and insights that we hope will endure the test of time.
